Should we do it ourselves? I don’t know about you, but I’m not much of a handyman, some things I can do, but this is a big task. There are many videos online that teach a person how to install the kitchen cabinets, but is it worth the effort and the learning curve? Should a custom kitchen cabinet option be considered or perhaps a ready to install kitchen cabinet option is best? There are many quality ready- made cabinets out there, but a great deal of kitchen cabinet manufacturers construct such junk I am not sure I would feel comfortable using a ready-made style. If you are a handyman, but are uncertain of some aspects of kitchen cabinet installation, there are many guides on how to install cabinets as near as the internet.
Regardless of the decision to do it yourself or have a contractor come in and make the installation for you, your project has just begun. There is a great deal of planning that should be made in starting such a project and one of the obvious first questions apart from cost should be: do I want unfinished or finished, painted or unpainted, or perhaps metal or wood kitchen cabinetry. Whatever decision you make, cost should not be the most important item here. If you look at this project as an investment into your homes future, this will reduce the temptation of being cheap. Cheap and durability rarely come hand and hand. You either save money up front and spend the rest of your time making repairs or you invest in durability and style and have an investment that rarely needs any additional work.
